Our Review of the Stokke Xplory Complete
The STOKKE® XPLORY® Complete, seen here, is a complete Stokke of Norway package that includes:
- XPLORY® Stroller
- XPLORY® harness seat for kids up to 45 lbs
- XPLORY® bassinet for babies to sleep soundly
- W/ Rain cover
- W/ Mosquito net
- Shopping bag
The STOKKE® XPLORY® stroller is at the cutting edge of an emerging trend in European stroller design, blending a distinct visual aesthetic with larger rear wheels for stability over uneven terrain. The result is an avant-garde take on an everyday parenting necessity that takes fashion and functionality to new levels. Honestly, we've never seen anything like the STOKKE® XPLORY®. And since we're sort of experts when it comes to these things, we're sure you haven't either . . . unless you've been searching for it.
The Height Advantage
The extra seat height and angled design of the STOKKE® XPLORY® Stroller provides these benefits:
- Your child has a better perspective on his or her surroundings
- You do not need to bend over as much to touch or pick them up
- When dining out or stopping at a café, the XPLORY® doubles as a highchair
- A closer physical connection while strolling
Make no mistake, the XPLORY® is a completely new take on walking strollers. Beyond its eye-catching ergonomic design, this stroller is elegantly simple. It's set up in such a way that you can maintain a close connection with your son or daughter without losing a step.
The XPLORY® Stroller is the Nexus of Movement and Togetherness
A stroller is an active parent's means of mobility. Not only should it be able to roll over most surfaces, it needs to fit in your trunk or closet as well. With this in mind, the designers at STOKKE® devised a means for the rear wheels to fold inward. This makes the XPLORY® stroller resemble a pull-cart, moking it easy to get up and down steps or over rough terrain. In addition, the XPLORY® folds up compactly to fit in your trunk or closet. (Please Note: you must remove the seat or bassinet before folding.)
The XPLORY® stroller's simplicity stems from the central bar that connects the handlebar, seat, base, and wheels together. This spinal cord-like angled column not only connects the essential components, it allows the XPLORY®'s tiny passenger to ride at an ideal level -- and gain the Height Advantage.
The height and angle of the XPLORY®'s handle is fully adjustable, meaning that this stroller is excellent for parents of any stature. Thanks to the wide wheelbase, the XPLORY® is very stable and accommodating of taller parents who take long strides. There is also a footbrake for parking.
XPLORY® Seating is Safe, Soft, and Secure
The XPLORY® Complete comes with both the standard seat and the XPLORY® bassinet. The standard seat of the XPLORY® is high, reversible, and offers both an adjustable footrest and different recline settings. It also has a retractable sun canopy. These qualities keep your child closer to you while you stroll, promote eye contact, and allow you to tailor their comfort perfectly.
Ideal for infants, the XPLORY® bassinet has a thick padded mattress and a retractable sun canopy.
This STOKKE® stroller is also a travel system. We carry two car seat adaptors for the XPLORY®, one for Graco infant carseats and another for the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio SIP.
There's also a wide range of matching accessories for the XPLORY®:
- Sleeping Bag for the bassinet
- Insulated Footmuff for the standard seat
- Changing Bag for essentials, comes w/ a changing pad
- Adjustable Parasol for shade
- Travel Bag for long distance transportation
Bottom Line: A stroller as elegant and beneficial to families as the XPLORY® is very hard to find. This stroller is truly exclusive, in both form and function. The XPLORY®'s only major disadvantage (and this is almost universal with European strollers) it the lack of a cupholder. Big deal. In terms of storage, the XPLORY® has a 'shopping bag' with enough space for about 3 one-gallon milk jugs. While not the biggest storage basket around, there definitely enough room for the essentials.

Stokke Xplory Complete Reviews
Love it
4 years and still great
The best stroller EVER!
worth every penny
So far, I have only used the bassinet and car seat adapters. Both configurations are great. It's really, really comfortable (for the parents) to have the baby so high. There's no need to bend way down low to attend to her as with regular strollers. It's also nice to have the baby facing us (the only configuration if you are using the bassinet and car seat; the standard seat can face backward or forward). While the baby's so little, it's important for us to catch her grimacing before she starts crying, and we can do that with the Stokke. That being said, you have the option of lowering the height of the attachments (bassinet/car seat/standard seat) if you want. Also, the stroller feels solid.
Another plus is that all sorts of people will comment on the Stokke and admire it, from other parents to motorcycle riders to 8-year old boys. The downside is that other parents who tell you they thought about getting the Stokke (but didn't) have this look of regret or envy and stare at the stroller while they talk to you, instead of looking at you or your cute baby.
Other (minor) downsides to the stroller, which are all super minor compared to the major pluses, are: even collapsed and disassembled (i.e., car seat or bassinet or seat removed), it is bulkier than an umbrella stroller, so you must reserve some trunk space for it (but the thin profile means you can fit things around it); the dark gray plastic (at the wheel base and handle) will show heavy scratches (minor ones are invisible); and the colors of the stroller don't exactly match the colors of the car seats that work with the adapters. Also, the front wheels are smooth and work well on most normal surfaces, including park trails, but, as with any stroller without bicycle-sized wheels, DC potholes can be a challenge sometimes. Also, if it's also pretty pricey if you ignore the fact that you will be using it for about 3 years of your life.
On balance, the comfort, looks, quality and especially the comfort of the stroller for both parents and baby, and the fact that we will be using it for about 3 years, not only justify the price tag, they make it totally worth it.
