Our Review of the Bugaboo Bee stroller

All new and just for you – a pink Bugaboo Bee!

The Bugaboo Bee has come in for a landing!  After months of anticipation, speculation, and good old-fashioned buzz, Bugaboo's latest travel-friendly baby stroller is finally available.

The Bee stroller is convenience, class, and style on four small wheels.  Whether it's your only stroller or a 'spare' Bugaboo that you take while you travel, the Bee's small stature, versatility, clean lines, and portability make it a welcome addition to your busy family.

  • Suitable from infancy to 37.5 lbs.
  • Folded dimensions: 12" H x 17" W x 35" D
  • Seat is reversible

WHY YOU WILL LOVE IT

Parents who love the Bugaboo aesthetic but find the rugged Cameleon too bulky and cumbersome will adore the Bugaboo Bee.

The frame of the Bee uses the same high-strength aluminum and tough joint components that make Bugaboo baby strollers so durable, but makes a slight departure with 6" foam filled rubber wheels instead of the Cameleon's 12" air filled rear tires.  The result is a compact, quick to fold, quick to open Bugaboo baby stroller that is ideal for parents on the go.

Includes:

  • Demonstration DVD
  • Rain Cover
  • Two-year manufacturer's warranty

Convenience

The compact design of the Bugaboo Bee emphasizes convenience and portability over the all-terrain capability of the Cameloen.  The 'tight and light' Bugaboo Bee weighs only 17 lbs., making it quite easy to carry up steps or toss into the trunk of your car or a taxi.  The Bee stroller folds up quickly with just two hands by releasing the fold levers and lifting the stroller.  It unfolds with just a kick.

The comfortable seat of the Bee is reversible, so your child can face toward you or away, and the range of stylish accessories add value while accentuating this portable baby stroller's versatility.  The 4.2 gallon underside basket gives you plenty of storage space, and the Bee's narrow width (just 20") makes it easy to slide through even the tightest spaces.

Pushability

In a departure from the Bugaboo standard of 6" front wheels and 12" air-filled rear wheels, the Bee rides on four 6" foam-filled rubber tires.  The front wheels can be fixed forward for better control on rough surfaces.  The Bee also has a height adjustable handlebar that allows caretakers of different heights to push the stroller comfortably and makes the fold extra compact.

While still durable and easy to maneuver, the Bee's smaller rear wheels mean you cannot expect to push it through sand or snow.  The Bee baby stroller is best suited for the city, sidewalks, and the shopping mall.

WHY BABY WILL LOVE IT

The Bugaboo Bee provides a safe and comfortable place for your baby or toddler up to 37.5 lbs to ride in style.  The ergonomic seat design contours perfectly to his or her body shape, and the harness adjusts as they grow.  The seat is reversible, allowing baby to keep eye contact with you or face out and see everything that you do.

Comfort

The ergonomic seat and 5-point harness of the Bugaboo Bee are well padded for your child's comfort.  Better yet, the reversible seat reclines to four different positions, allowing your baby to lean back and relax to his or her liking.  This feature is especially useful when your child dozes off.

Every Bugaboo Bee comes with a deluxe sun canopy in the color of your choice, providing ample shade on sunny days.  There's also a great looking rain cover (included) that will keep the elements at bay on less than beautiful days.

  • 5-point harness for your baby's safety

Bugaboo Bee Stroller - problem with brakes

3
Reviewer: suzan , san jose, ca Date: July 28, 2008
i love the Bugaboo Bee Stroller, but the braking mechanism sometimes doesn't work. Sometimes the pin that locks into the wheels won't catch or it'll catch on just one wheel and cause the stroller to spin if you're on a slope. The first time it happened my daughter and I were at a parking garage. I parked the stroller next to my car with the brakes on and my daughter still in it. As I turned around the stroller started to roll away! OMG! We were so lucky that there weren't any cars backing up! So 3 stars for the Bee, but 5 stars for Bugaboo customer service because they're sending me a replacement chassis sometime in Sept. because it's on back order.

Bugaboo Bee Stroller and this website

5
Reviewer: Veronika , Louisville, KY Date: July 07, 2008
My 5 stars go first to this website and people behind it. I had decided very last moment to purchase this stroller, because we are going home to visit in Europe and it was just before 4th of July when I made up my mind... Well it didn't make any difference to a very lovely lady on the phone, who helped me to find a way to get the stroller in time (we are leaving in couple of days) and here it is already! The Bugaboo Bee stroller, absolutely meeting my expectations, or even exceeding it. I was a bit worried about the narrow seat everyone mentions and our daughter is pretty tall for her 21 months, but she fits in just perfectly! We own a Bugaboo Gecko stroller too, so it will remain the main outdoor stroller, but for travelling abroad (which we do quite often) the Bee is gonna be the one to take along, because of the comfort of use. (It really is not convenient to take apart the Gecko at the gate at the airport, take the wheels off, fit it all neatly in the travel bag, especially not with a very active toddler around). We also have a Maclaren umbrella stroller, but the Bee beats it by a mile. Does this all sound like I would recommend the Bugaboo Bee? That's right, I would! :-)

Love it!!

Reviewer: M.D. , Queens, NY Date: June 16, 2008
After trying different strollers, I finally purchased the Bugaboo Bee. Many told me not to purchase it because the seat is very small especially since I have a 18 month old. However, I 'm so glad I bought it. I'm actually glad that the seat is small. It keeps my sons body nice and straight when he is sleeping. I won't have to worry about his head tilting to the side. After a couple of tries, you do get the hang of opening and closing it. My husband loves it. I would definitely recommend.

I cant say enough about this pram! After careful research and owning several others I decided to go for it when I visited home and got one. In England where we live the streets are mostly cobbled and this Bee doesnt have any problems. It travels well and the bag is ingenious! My son loves it and I would definently buy Bugaboo again. I would also like to pass a 5 star rating to this site! They provided superb customer service! Answering any questions I had in record time, fast, friendly and it was greatly appreciated!

Best Stroller out there.

5
Reviewer: Anonymous , Brisbane Australia Date: May 14, 2008
I have found the Bugaboo Bee very good for my 7 month old (he is a big baby and fits most 1yr-18mth clothes) and still fits the Bee. I will have to turn him around very soon though, I love that you can have your baby facing you in a stroller!! I have found the Bee to be great looking as well as a fantastic purchase for the Baby Bonus that the Australian Govt has on offer. (much better than a plasma!) We had trouble with our chassis, but Bugaboo finally came to the party and sent us a new one, although this did take a while...it was worth the wait. Our handle was tight when we received it, then it loosened up with use, but then it became too loose and was like it was broken...hanging open! It is all replaced now and our baby boy is styling around BrisVegas again. This is the Best Stroller out there on the market, as it does turn to face mum or away for when they get older. It maneuvers through tight spaces easily and leaves those three wheel monstrosities in its wake. The sunshade and the breezy(silver) canopy are a must if you are in Australia esp. in Summer...as is the (water bottle) cup holder. I wouldn't worry about the nest or other cover though in a warm climate. The sunshade is the best for a newborn, when you need to get them to sleep without prying eyes staring at your babe all the time. A great design!! Spend a little more and get the extras with it, they are certainly worth it.

Great Lighweight City Stroller

Reviewer: Anonymous , New York, NY Date: April 04, 2008
Love the foldup mechanism of the stroller (some practice is definitely required). The Bee Nest is a must-have for newborns especially in cooler weather. Not sure about bigger kids but if you have an infant the Nest is warm enough so you won't need the Footmuff.

So What's All The Fuss About?

5
Reviewer: Anonymous , LONDON,UK Date: March 08, 2008
Well after months of reading reviews, seeing the demo on the Bugaboo website, seeing the elite few lucky owners in London pushing the Bugaboo Bee around and having a peek at it in the shops; I finally decided to purchase the Bee as a Mother's day present for my partner. She was delighted and still is... So am I! This thing is slick, doesn't look like it will go out of fashion for a long time either. I got the Bee in Black and it looks real classy and chic (I actually though it would just look ok). Our baby boy is due April 18th. So we cannot wait to see him in the bee. With regards to opening, closing, changing the seat around, it takes a little getting used to as the parts are a little stiff (which is to be expected with new products). Although it is light, it is solid and sturdy. The size of the Bee is perfect for us who live in central London using public transport and shopping. It takes up very little space. Also, we live on the fourth floor of our building with no lifts. So the compactness and weight is a deciding factor to getting the bee. Is it worth the money? Well, we could have bought anything costing much less with maybe more accessories included. But nothing compares to the quality of the Bee to be honest. I personally feel that it is worth every penny I've spent on it for my partner and baby! I don't deny that there is an element of a fashion statement to having a Bugaboo product. All Bugaboo products without fail turns heads in London). And I don't really care to be honest. Mothers and babies can look cool and hip! Oh! Did I forget Dads too? So what's all the fuss about? If you want something that is compact, light, easy to handle, adaptable and at the same time, looks great? Pay a little extra, go for quality and get the Bugaboo Bee! Personally, I would have been severely disappointed if we had to settle for anything less than this Well designed product. This is a buggy that I am happy to walk around with, rather than something I have to push! That's what all the fuss is about!
